Women & Politics and the Urban League of London are collaborating on a project entitled Creating a More Equitable London through Civic and Political Participation and Leadership, with support from multiple community partners, where we’ll offer a series of workshops in 2021 to support greater civic and political participation and leadership for women in London. The main goal of the project is to increase representation of women in government and other community organizations by increasing their participation in civic life in London. We're in need of a program coordinator who will support project coordination and workshop development, facilitation and coordination.


We are committed to intersectionality and expect that the project coordinator will use an equity and inclusion lens throughout their work on the project, including in developing marketing materials and workshop curriculum and in working with our community partners.


Responsibilities:


Project Coordination

  • Meet regularly with project team (Board and partners)

  • Regular project updates to Board/Project Team Leads

  • Assisting with acquisition of materials and equipment

  • Assisting with development and maintenance of partnerships

  • Workshop budget management e.g. childcare honoraria, equipment lending

  • Assist with development of final grant report


Program evaluation

  • Ensure all evaluation activities are set up and completed for each workshop/participant/group as required

  • Submit evaluation results to evaluation lead according to schedule


Workshop Facilitation and Coordination

  • Manage all logistics for workshops including but not limited to – coordinating with partners, advertising and marketing all workshops, securing venue if required, setting up virtual meetings, enrolling all participants, managing attendance, preparing and distributing materials

  • Facilitate workshops

  • Train workshop facilitators


Workshop Curriculum Development

  • Co-design and create content using an intersectional lens for Leadership Skills and Civic Engagement Workshops

  • Assist with development and review of Campaign School Materials

  • Assist with development of Resource Kits


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking

  • Development of educational materials

  • Training and workshop facilitation

  • Program development

  • Program evaluation

  • Logistics and project coordination

  • Planning – including event planning

  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, GSuite and Google Drive, Social Media)

  • Background knowledge of political science/civics

  • Partnership and community development skills an asset


This is a contract position that will run from approximately March 15, 2021 to March 31, 2022 that pays $30/hour. We expect that it will be about 8 hours a week with allowance for flexibility based on project needs, with some weeks being more or less than 8 hours of work.
